VOLUNTEERS KEEP US GROWING!

Join community partners and the Flint River Fresh team as we teach our neighbors how to grow fresh fruits and vegetables where they live and work with local family farms to bring what is grown in the field to our neighbors in need.

Garden Beautification & Revitalization

Urban Farming & Community Garden Volunteer Activities

The Flint River Fresh team provides basic guidelines and instructions for a productive gardening experience that produce fresh fruits and vegetables used for food bank donations, community meals, school taste tests, produce boxes and community u-pick operations.

General garden maintenance includes weeding, planting seasonal crops, installing irrigation systems, laying landscape fabric, planting fruit trees, moving compost, and harvesting fresh fruits and vegetables.

Fresh Food Accessibility and Community Harvest

Fresh Box Giveaways Volunteer Activities

Community partnerships enable us to distribute hundreds of boxes of local fresh fruit and vegetables and other donated foods to neighbors in need monthly through our Fresh Rx, Fresh Share, and Fresh-to-Community program.

Volunteers help unload bulk packages of produce, sort through the produce, assemble produce boxes, register neighbors, distribute boxes in the community, help with event setup and clean, load boxes and produce into people’s cars, and support community engagement.

School Garden Blitz

School Garden Blitz

In the Fall and Spring, we need hands to help jump start our school garden growing seasons by doing garden clean-ups. Over the course of a month, we visit as many school gardens as possible with one goal - TO GET THEM READY for PLANTING!!!

We are currently supporting schools in Dougherty and Sumter County.

Volunteers help remove overgrowth and weeds, add soil and fertilizer to the raised garden beds, repair any damaged raised garden beds, and install irrigation system under the guidance of the Flint River Fresh team.
